Trade him to the Wings with Van's 1st for the Cap's 2nd Then go for one of the Canes keepers so they can sign Holtby. |

Let me ask you a question;
Not many fans and organizations have put together a period like the Devils did in their hay day. It isn’t far from the Dynasties of the Oilers, Isles, Wings, Pens and what they have done.
Don’t be sorry, I wouldn’t trade being a fan for nothing! Would you? |

and it's not like they disappeared after that too. The Devils had a good 20 years of being a playoff team surrounding those 10 years of being a contender, or or less. |

Roger Mussa: Corey Schneider got me thinking... - Devils Advocate
I might move clemmensen up to the next group for that one season Brodeur was injured. He was rock solid in net and helped them make the playoffs. And I still think they should have kept him in net in the first round when Marty came back. |

Bravo on the Chico Resch mention....he is one guy I would love to see his numbered retired. Not saying he had the impact as a Brodeur but as a Devils fan since day 1 he was the first face of this franchise and obviously many years as the voice of us on TV and Radio side! |

You lost all credibility on Alain Chevrier ahead of Chico Resch. Chico was arguable the closest thing the Devils had to a star player. The temper and fire to make the Devils close to a legit team alone. Chico was the man and that's why he's still part of this organization. Alain Chevrier was a stop gap at best.
And what about Bob Sauve?! You don't mention our Vezina winning (sharing) goaltender?
True story; after our first playoff run ended against the Bruins in Boston a bunch of my friends drove to Newark Airport to greet the team. There were some other fans there waiting and as the players came out my buddy says to Kirk Mueller "Hi Kirk, welcome back... Where is Bob Suave?" Kirk told him he was in the back of the plane and getting off soon but looked a little put off that we were all excited to see the backup goalie as much as the captain of the team. We use to call him Bob so Sauve (like the shampoo) instead of how you should pronounce it. |

Schneider is a great guy but the reality is he's been a disaster since day 1.
Trading for him was a desperation move to keep the dynasty going but the bad drafting, advanced age and loss of players (Neidermeyer and Stevens in particular) meant things were over.
This ultimately greased the tracks for Marty to go St. Louis which is unfortunate he could stay here his whole career.
Bo Hovart or whomever we would have drafted might be a big help in our lineup vs and goalie who's now done.
Even when Cory was putting up good numbers the team stunk so he just stopped us from bottoming out.
Now he's a big cap hit and not even a reliable backup for the last two year.
He deserved better including when he was in Vancouver and held back, but it is what it is. |

Buy Corey Out. He is barely an NHL goaltender at this point with a huge contract. Since he came to the Devils, his GAA has gotten worse with each passing year. He has never been the same since his multiple injuries. The team has been more the patient with his recovery. I do love his work ethic, don't get me wrong. He has been a true team first professional even during him being sent to Binghamton. His an PK's contracts are albatrosses to the team. My only hope is that Seattle picks up PK in the expansion draft even if we agree to retain some of the contract. Two contracts that are proof of the perils of long term deals. |

I wouldn't panic on PK. The cap hit doesn't really hurt us and his actual salary is $1M less (8 vs. 9). There are two season left and he can still play NHL hockey which is better then Schneider. Also, everyone looks like crap in the Hynes system. Nas probably ran the D the exact same way. Hopefully Ruff will change things up and it's a fresh start... |

38 years ago today, (9.17.82) the NJ Devils won their first ever hockey game against the Washington Capitals in their road exhibition debut. It was a 3-1 win and the first goal was scored by Devil Randy Pierce.
For the regular season the Devils would open with a tie against the Penguins with the first regular season goal scored by Don Lever. They then got their first official win by beating the Rangers. In their third game they came back from a 5-1 deficit to tie the Toronto Maple leafs! Luck ran out against the Montreal Canadiens who handed the Devils their first official loss.... |
